Abstract:

The problem of determining the sequence of a set of jobs with the objective function of minimizing the maximum earliness and tardiness in one machine is studied. &#10 Production systems like JIT are one of the many applications of the problem. This problem is studied in special cases and their optimal solutions are introduced with simple orders. In general, some effective conditions for neighboring jobs have been developed and the dominant set for the optimal solution is determined. Branch and Bound (BB) method is also used for this problem. The strong upper and lower limits are introduced in BB, resulting in optimal solutions to a lot of problems in short time periods. To show the effectiveness of the suggested solution methods, as many as 720 problems in different sizes, with 5 to 100 jobs, have been randomly generated and solved.&#10

Optimum Aggregate Inventory for Scheduling Multi-product Single Machine System with Zero Setup Time

In this paper we adopt the common cycle approach to economic lot scheduling problem and minimize the maximum aggregate inventory. We allow the occurrence of the idle times between any two consecutive products and consider limited capital for investment in inventory. We assume the setup times are negligible. To achieve the optimal investment in inventory we first find the idle times which minimi...

An approximation algorithm and FPTAS for Tardy/Lost minimization with common due dates on a single machine

This paper addresses the Tardy/Lost penalty minimization with common due dates on a single machine. According to this performance measure, if the tardiness of a job exceeds a predefined value, the job will be lost and penalized by a fixed value. Initially, we present a 2-approximation algorithm and examine its worst case ratio bound. Then, a pseudo-polynomial dynamic programming algorithm is de...

Genetic Algorithm-Based Optimization Approach for an Uncapacitated Single Allocation P-hub Center Problem with more realistic cost structure

A p-hub center network design problem is definition of some nodes as hubs and allocation of non-hub nodes to them wherein the maximum travel times between any pair of nodes is minimized. The distinctive feature of this study is proposing a new mathematical formulation for modeling costs in a p-hub center problem. Here, instead of considering costs as a linear function of distance, for the first...

development and implementation of an optimized control strategy for induction machine in an electric vehicle

in the area of automotive engineering there is a tendency to more electrification of power train. in this work control of an induction machine for the application of electric vehicle is investigated. through the changing operating point of the machine, adapting the rotor magnetization current seems to be useful to increase the machines efficiency. in the literature there are many approaches wh...
